In de film Albert Schweitzer wordt op schitterende wijze het leven in beeld gebracht van de arts, filosoof en zendeling Albert Schweitzer, een van de meest prominente wereldburgers. Dat is vooral te danken aan de filosofie van ‘Eerbied voor het leven’, die hij in de praktijk brengt in zijn junglehospitaal in het Afrikaanse Gabon. Jeroen Krabbé speelt op indrukwekkende wijze de hoofdrol.
